Dear Raghu

As you know, we are involved in rural school related works. One such project is '1 Lab - 1 School'  where graduate students of our labs from IIT  go to rural schools (class IX) and and give device related hands-on  training. These are the devices which we use in daily life. In the day of visit, the graduate students dismantle and assemble back these devices (example iron box, vacuum cleaner, weighing machine etc etc) before lunch, and after lunch the school students repeat the same. In this way, one lab visits about 6-7 times a year taking every time a different device. This is also a way to connect the premier institute of the country with the grass root level schools. We at our project office coordinate these visits and do all necessary support and documentation works.
This academic year, 11 labs (from different dept. of  IITM) and thus 11 schools (from three districts) are involved. It is going really well. You will be amazed to see the performances of our graduate students. Beside the school kids, the graduate students are getting benefited significantly from these device related exercise. Coming academic year (starts in June) we are planning to add about another 15 more labs (besides continuing with the 11 existing one). You have a big, active and enthusiastic group . I will be very happy if your lab can be a part of it.  I hope you will agree and encourage your students to participate. I can assure you that they will go through a wonderful learning experience through this. Also, this will not disturb their regular research work.
In your department, two labs from Polymer group (Abhijeet, Basa ) already participating and Push lab is going to participate from coming July.
To explain the concept and methodology, I and my project team would like to come to your lab and meet the lab members and make a small presentation. If you are fine with it, could you please let us know a date and time when we can come. You can otherwise connect one of your students to me, we will coordinate with him/her. Whatever works for you. For example, for couple of labs, we are meeting them on their day of group meeting.
Thank you.

Pijush
