Ive downloaded the latest version of NetExtender (App Ver: 10.2.322/Svc Ver: 10.2.300), but it won't install or run unless I disable the Core Isolation/Memory Integrity functionality in Windows 11. Now that we're 4 months since release, how long until we have a compatible version of NetExtender so we can enable this security feature again?

We are having the exact same issue. I am running the current version of NetExtender, but only with Core Isolation/Memory Integrity turned off in Windows Security. It states the drivers for NetExtender are Incompatible. The driver and version are:

The problem continues. Why isn't it resolved? Isn't there a team to resolve and update the driver to a compatible version? A product that is supposed to be safe forces us to disable a windows security feature. It should be evaluated more carefully.

This issue kept popping up in my environment over and over, and after deleting this key it fixed. It was only happening on client machines that had Dell SonicWall NetExtender installed. Posting this here so other professionals can see the fix.

re: SMA-4585 - we are still seeing the same problem intermittently, even after upgrading all NetExtender clients to 10.2.336. When this happens, going into Internet Options/LAN Settings/Automatically Detect Network Settings and rebooting resolves it, at least for a while. We have had a couple of repeats on the same PCs.

We have a customer that has had TWO machines exhibiting this behavior. One of them we had to back all the way down to NetExtender 10.2.234 to get her working again. The other one we have reset her networking to fix her issue, but it comes back every few days. I suspect it coordinates w/ her use of NetExtender. I'd be interested to try the 10.2.237 client, but we need to get these users working again so the 234 client is probably in her future. BTW, both machines are windows pro 11 and both use NetExtender 10.2.236

I have a client having the same issue, we have upgraded to 10.2.337 and still have the same issue. I have to reset the internet options every view days to get them back working. Has anyone found a long term fix for this?

Hello @Chris_MBN , @RonnieCorny - We request you to please contact Sonicwall Support. Our engineering team is currently working on this Issue. A private build is available that could be used by you however we ask that you please contact support and obtain the build as there are certain steps that need to be performed while using the pvt build.

From the bottom of my heart, CYBERJAMES thank you for writing this post. Let me add, the issue also exists on W11 and NetExtender v. 10.2.338. But after 'several hours' of debugging, i finally found this post. Deleted the registry key and had some coffee, omitting to create a support case.

No worries, I researched and troubleshot this issue for hours which was affecting the business and knew this would help others. Apparently the newest update fixes this issue, however I still think for devices affected by it you will need to delete the registry key. I have since then moved my environment to Fortinet so I was unable to confirm this.

Windows 10 users connected OK with the new client, but the Windows 7 users were unable to connect, getting a "Initializing Engine...Failed!" message on the client (even after a reboot and confirming services were running on the client). We quickly rolled back the firmware to 10.2.1.1-19sv to prevent too many Windows 7 users from getting the bad client.

Also, after the rollback, the newly installed client would not connect to the older SMA 410 version, producing a "Failed to get a vpn protocal" [sp] message. This required an uninstall of the newest NetExtender, and a reinstall of the older version (2.3.15) to resume connectivity.

I know Win7 is not longer supported by Microsoft, but we host services for some counterparts located in another country where Windows 7 is still very much in use and we have no control over their infrastructure, so this will continue to be the case.

One of our clients has exact same model unit (SMA410) and have updated the firmware yesterday. They have also reported exact same problem and would be interested hearing the solution from Sonicwall support related to this issue.

@Craig_S on Firewalls you have to enable Client Autoupdates, on the SMA it's a bit different. You have to enable the option "Allow Client Turn Off Auto Update" AND then you need to disable Auto Updates in the NetExtender itself.

@Craig_S customer run into the same prob on a sma400 during autoupdate his windows 7 machine. Took me quiet a while understand because all other users win10 where not included. finally i rolled back both firmware and netextender on this machine.

On the new firmware there is the wireguard VPN included. So its for the netextender too. If perhaps wireguard is the reason that it does not run on windows 7 why isnt there a logic what ckecks the guest operation system prior to upgrade the client.

At work we have to use Sonicwall Netextender to connect over VPN. The NetExtender client works fine on Windows x64 for me, but when using the same settings in my Ubuntu , the connection seems to work fine at first - But after just some packages have been sent, it slows down to almost 0 or 0 ( the connection is still up and seems fine)

Also tried with latest NetExtenderPackage "NetExtender.Linux.7.0.741.x86_64" and it's the same symptoms - i can connect successfully, fetch about one webpage, and then everything just seem to stall. I also upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04.

Not sure if you got a solution to this or not, but Dell Sonicwall just released a firmware update to the NSA series that somewhat addresses this type of issue. I was having similar "trailing off" issues with my windows client. The Global VPN client would work fine, but the Netexender would slow to a crawl after a couple minutes. This firmware update has increased the throughput by a factor of at least eight and the speed stays constant!

We are working remote running Inventor 2020 on Windows 10 machines at work and home running Windows RDP and SonicWall NetExttender. We have yet to find a way to use a 3Dconnexion 3D mouse remote but still searching. But because of this our only option for orbit (which we use several times or more a minute) is to use F4 and our mouse to rotate around. An issue we've been having is lag and buffering. When we hold down the F4 key we get the little orbit icon on our mouse pointer and we move around. Even though we are high speed internet at work and home and everything else seems to work fine, we have issues with this.

When we press the F4 key and get the orbit pointer, we move the mouse and rotate the assembly. It moves very choppily in steps, when we get to where we feel we need to be we let go of the F4 key BUT the orbit icon stays on our mouse pointer from a couple seconds to a minute or more. While the orbit icon is our pointer we can't do anything. And the rotating we were doing seems to of buffered some mouse motion so even though we let go of the F4 key, the jumps a couple more times to some new viewpoint, not where we wanted to be. So we do it again and again until we end up moving soooooo slow a snail would blow by us but if it buffers it changes our view.

We have the RTD speed set to auto-detect and we have played games with speed, color depth, use both monitors, turning off effects, everything but it's still choppy. We also have Enable Pointer Shadow turned off on our workstations and local PC. We can connect using SolarWinds Take Control and we don't have that lag or choppiness but we're very limited in resolution and can only see one screen at a time.

I will point out this happens only on large assemblies. If we have very small assemblies or parts the F4 immediately releases but in large assemblies at time we get the orbit icon stay on our mouse pointer and a couple jerky orbit moves long after we release the F4 key.

Well, it looks like I stumbled across the issue. It's only with one big machine assembly, other similar size assemblies have no lag, no freeze, no slow loading. Marking this resolved and concentrating on what's wrong with the assembly.

I'm thinking I was a little premature in saying it was that one large assembly. At different times it still hangs on other large assemblies. I am running remote desktop in dual screen mode with two monitors at work and two at home and use both just like I was at work. I have Inventor maximized on one monitor and use the other for Office, browser, etc. I am active in Inventor and since my 3Dconnexion mouse can't be used remote (another topic) I HAVE to use F4 to orbit the model. When I hold down F4 my mouse pointer changes to the little orbit icon, I hold down my left mouse button and spin. It might spin a little, stop, jump and spin a little more, then stop, then a little more, and I left go of F4. My mouse pointer remains the little orbit icon. The model will jump and spin a few more times. I can move my mouse to my other monitor and it's still the little orbit icon. The model will spin a little more and the pointer still the orbit icon, and while it is the orbit icon I cannot click on anything or work in another app. after a while the icon changes back to my pointer and the model is well out of the position I wanted. Sometimes the mouse pointer never changes back and I have to shut down my remote session and reconnect to get control back. Really frustrating.

It is possible to use the 3Dconnexion 3D mouse over RDP, with some requirements though. The requirements being Windows 10 Pro on both machines, using MS RDP, and the 3D mouse drives being installed both places. Below is a link to the 3Dconnexion forum with a post that details enabling RemoteFX USB support on Microsoft Remote Desktop.

Well, that was about a disaster. Did the group policy changes on me remote workstation and did the force to enable the group policies. Shut down my remote session and tried to restart and nothing. Basically the computer was offline. Luckily someone was at work and my computer had BSOD with an exception for atikmdag.sys. Had them restart my computer and luckily it came back up. And found that if I try to do GPedit on my home computer it doesn't exist. Tried to install it but the policies in the document aren't there. Had my hopes up and almost toasted my ability to remote in. Won't be doing that again.
