Hi All,
I just bought the new Radxa Rock board, I have installed the latest android_ubuntu_dual_boot_update.img  . Now the problem is that WI-FI is working only on Android, when I'm booting the linux WI-FI is not recognized.

Here are some details:

Linux :
root@radxa:~# lsb_release -d
Description:    Linaro 13.09

root@radxa:~# uname -a
Linux radxa 3.0.36+ #4 SMP PREEMPT Thu Dec 5 18:01:49 CST 2013 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux

Check modules:
root@radxa:~# lsmod
Module                  Size  Used by
rk30xxnand_ko         355048  0

root@radxa:~# cat /etc/network/interfaces
# interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

root@radxa:~# iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions.

eth0      no wireless extensions.

sit0      no wireless extensions.

ip6tnl0   no wireless extensions.

root@radxa:~# iwlist scan
lo        Interface doesn't support scanning.

eth0      Interface doesn't support scanning.

sit0      Interface doesn't support scanning.

ip6tnl0   Interface doesn't support scanning.

Any help appreciated,
Thank you

Exactly the same problem here.  Some notes I found that if you load the 8723au kernel module you should see the module in lsmod.  I loaded it and got an extra record:

Bus 002 Device 006: ID 1b1a:0000 <blank>

I really need wireless working on the board and didn't want to resort to plugging in a usb wifi adapter.

Want only linux (lubuntu), I have 3 partitions on the Rock..  /dev/mtdblock0 (17MB) (boot?), /dev/mtdblock1 (2.1GB) (rootfs?)  and /dev/mtdblock2 (5.8G) (spare).

Using upgrade_tool I loaded RK3188Loader(L)_V1.24.bin and update.img from the rockchip-pack-tools download.

Still no wlan0 device.. :-(  eth0 working well.

Any help would be most appreciated..

Peter.

My wifi started working yesterday. I am not sure what changed because I am sure it wasn't working the day before. However, it seems very unstable. The board was crashing and rebooting every few minutes until I disabled the wifi. By the way, I am using the latest version of the kernel which I built according to the instructions on cnx-software. I think the images on radxa.com might not include the wifi driver yet.

Hi, Dima

The wifi driver is not included in the default image. You can download
and install the drivers via the following command on RR.

mkdir -p /lib/modules && cd /lib/modules
wget http://dl.radxa.com/rock/images/ubuntu/2013-12-17/3.0.36+.tar.gz
tar zxvf 3.0.36+.tar.gz
rm 3.0.36+.tar.gz

modprobe 8723au

Hi,

yes, the file is not available but you can build the modules:

http://wiki.radxa.com/Rock/Booting_Linux

Or I can send the file to you.

Marco

Hi, Rohan

The latest firmware should include all the driver modules. As Marco
suggested, you can also build the modules yourself.
