g'day, I just ordered a 4GB rock2 Square and wondering if I can use a USB monitor with it? I have a USB monitor with native resolution of 1366 x 768 and plan to run Rabian on my rock2.
Thanks

Hi, JT
USB monitor is interesting, does it works on your other Linux platform
such as a Linux desktop PC?

Hi Tom
Yes, it has been working perfectly since kernel 3.9.0. I typically use Debian.

Good to hear that, we use 3.10 kernel, but it's arm platform. At least
you can try, it should work. If it doesn't, we will try to support it.
If we can't, you can return the board and we refund.

Do you have the model number and product link for the monitor?

Hi Tom. It's an AOC E1649FWU portable USB monitor. I am not
worried if it doesn't work and will not be returning. I have a
desktop HDMI monitor if I need to build my own kernel to get it to
work or I will buy a portable HDMI monitor.
Here is a blog from a gentlemen experimenting with the same monitor a
few years ago. Hey lists all the related kernel messages if you'd
like to see the output.

Tom, I may have to do more research on the DisplayLink driver. It
doesn't look like you can use any DL (USB) monitor as a primary
display. I'm also worried about the rock2 being able to provide
enough power to power the monitor. Think I will be sticking with
HDMI.
