Hi There!

I was was given a Radxa Rock by my brother, he never got it working properly and moved on. I Have hooked it up to serial and tried both flashing Android and Ubuntu images to it but it always stops on the the same place. [ 0.000000] bootconsole [earlycon0] enabled. The red light stays on solid and no output on HDMI.

Here is a dump from what I get when booting, taken from serial.

I have tried all sorts of powersupplies. But I will give it another go with a lab powersupply.

If that fails what else could it be?

Ok, tried it. Didnt work
here is the output from serial.

I tried doing a "upgrade_tool lf" and flashed it again hoping this would reset the whole thing. But that did not work. Is there some other thing I should try? Does bootconsole [earlycon0] enabled mean that after this line its trying to output via HDMI? If that is the case can I force it to continue sending serial data? I dont really know if it hangs here or somewhere later. Can I factory reset some way or what should I try now?

I have tried the following images:

radxa_rock_android_kitkat_140909_update.img

radxa_rock_ubuntu_14.04_desktop_fhd_140823_update.img

rock_rabian_d4a8b1c_rock_150422_76c95de_nand.img

Also should we continue this discussion here or on talk.radxa?

hmm... The boot message should keep printing on serial console, it
seems there is some hardware issue for your board. I have uploaded a
kernel with early prink enabled. Can you have a try?

use upgrade_tool di boot boot-linux-rock-150423.img

It seems indeed dead...

There is another way to try, disable the display and find out what's
going wrong. It seems the cpu, flash, memory are working.
