RadioVIS 3D application group kickoff

This group has been created to discuss the new RadioVIS 3D application
under the RadioDNS Project.
The idea is to allow a simple method to enable 3D image slide shows in
RadioVIS application, thus extending the formats available for image
carousels. The new application would inherit the behavior and
functionalities of the RadioVIS application, and it will differ only
in the visual aspects, enabling 3D image slide shows.
The RadioVIS 3D application can be completely backward compatible both
with the applications and the device types already used in RadioVIS,
because the 3D carousel would be enabled only if the device supports a
stereoscopic display and if the broadcaster provides the service. This
concept has been preliminarily discussed in the public RadioVIS
Developers Group, to have a first impression from developers
(http://groups.google.com/group/radiovis-developers/browse_thread/thread/7346b153a475a012).
The RadioDNS General Assembly (February the 14th, 2012) gave the
official go ahead to the discussions.
The application could also take advantage of the already existing 3D
auto-stereoscopic smart-phones (2 models at the moment, both
supporting FM Radio).
This group will have the following tasks:
- Propose and discuss use cases and possible applicactions for the
RadioVIS 3D application
- Notify the RadioVIS 3D team of devices including both radio/Internet
and 3D capabilities (better auto-stereoscopic)
- Discuss any feedback from device manufacturers
- Propose and discuss a RadioVIS 3D specification
- Share prototypes of the applications
