python3 auto_rx.py

Hello,

I am having issues with getting my Raspberry Pi working with auto_rx. I am not the most familiar with a Pi, just to let everyone know. After following the steps in the setup and configuration on the "Native" part of https://github.com/projecthorus/radiosonde_auto_rx/wiki, I ran the command

     $ python3 auto_rx.py

within  radiosonde_auto_rx/auto_rx, and I got this error message back:

File "auto_rx.py", line 474
    logging.warning(f"Task Manager - Invalid entry found in always_decode list, skipping.")
                                                                                         ^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax

I am sure this has happened many times to many people on this Group, but I have found no such question on this particular issue.

Any help would be of great significance.

It looks like it's having problems parsing the "always_decode" section of your station.cfg file.  The sample config looks like this:

# always_decode - Always-running decoders. Only possible in a multi-SDR (or network-based SDR) system.
# List must be in the form: [[401.5,"RS41"], [402.5,"DFM"], [400.5,"M10"], [400.5,"IMET"]]
# Valid sonde types: RS41, RS92, DFM, M10, M20, IMET, IMET5, MK2LMS, LMS6, MEISEI, MRZ, MTS01
always_decode = []

Did you maybe mess with that section, or forget to set up your station.cfg file?

I just made some adjustments in the station.cfg file. No such luck. I looked at the section that you described, and it is written exactly like that.

Does auto_rx keep running and do scans?  Or does it stop?

I had some trouble with manual steps (I was also inexperienced with Rp).  Then I reinstalled Rp OS to get a fresh start and did the Docker install at the top of the page, and all worked well from there.

I think you are seeing a warning,  but then there is a real problem after that in the .cfg file. 

Did you set your lat/lon in the section immediately following, maybe you used an incorrect format. 

You can include -v option in the python command

The error shown is not actually an error in the station.cfg file, it's indicating that the python interpreter doesn't like something about the auto_rx.py file.

A likely reason is that an old version of Python (older than Python 3.6) is in use, which does not support the 'f-strings' string formatting method that I use throughout auto_rx.

Hello,

Well, I just took out the SD card, reinstalled the OS, then went through the instructions again, and that seemed to solve it.

I guess when in doubt, update the OS!

Yep, my guess this was an old raspbian install, with Python 3.5.
