Hi All,

As you may know i like the magnetic loop antenna.

It is all ready  long on the list to make it work with a vacuum c and a stepper motor.

From an old 3D printer  project i can reuse the stepper Nema 17.
Using an A4988 driver module.

Having a python flask web interface it is all working.

Now i have to bring the stepper and capacity near the loop (in the tube; see picture)

- do i need the controller close by? or can i use 10meter cable (or more) and control the stepper?
- i like to place a filter after the stepper controller module... i want no RF getting back ...

Do people have ideas  to solve this?

I like to control it using a rpi... so i can store the steps required for a certain freq.

also having a i2c vswr monitor tuning could be be done automatically.

Please let me  know if you have some direction or advice.

Hi Johan,

Have you looked at Loftur's (TF3LJ) Loop Controller?  Johan PD0LEW and I built the controller a couple of years ago and it works pretty well (but not perfect).  I did not have the controller close to the stepper/cap/loop.  You can use clamp-on ferrites to keep RF off the line going from the stepper to the controller.
