Hello,
I'm attempting to learn CW and was able to get my paddles working using MIDI in but have noticed something that is either a issue or maybe by design.  When I key up a Dah, it transmits a dit then a dah if it's the first charcter.  Dits do not do this.  Is the the initial dit to put it in TX?  I do remember reading that CW uses a type of VOX as to why I believe its there to initiate TX.  Being that I'm learning, that first dit is throwing me off.

Thanks

What MIDI device do you use? I use MIDI key input. Dit and Duh formed in Arduino keyer. No problems except latency so I use keyer to monitor my sending.

Arduino programmed as MIDI.  I use the same controller to control the VFO, band selection, etc.

I use VU2DLE modified for MIDI controller based on RP2040. If you have oscilloscope check Arduino power voltage from Raspberry USB. Sometime voltage drop or spikes can cause unpredicted behavior.

I recalled having a similar issue back when I was experimenting with CW messages in MIDI. Sometimes it would generate an extra dot; the number of text repetitions ranged from one to three. I concluded that the cause was poor power supply filtering.

Thank you for the advise.  I'll look into it.
