Johan, I know you collaborated with Paul for the radioberry with his SDRBerry project. I believe I need to move from the RPI4 to the RPI5 to get enough performance to use both the radioberry/pre-amp and the Pluto+.

So I ordered your RPI5 image in hopes I could install that and then install the SDRBerry for the Pluto drivers. Then the SDRBerry would find the correct radioberry drivers installed from your image that support the RPI5 PIO and radioberry pre-amp.

I am not sure if the version of radioberry that Paul integrated into his SDRBerry install is the RPI version or the older version, that uses the BCM processor, of your drivers.

Will this work do you think?

Also will the Hermes Lite 2 N2ADR work with the Radioberry? I know Pauls SDRBerry can send I2C commands out.

Thanks very much for this project, I am having a lot of fun.

Mike,

Paul is using  the rpi5 as well. The soapy implementation talks with the driver so i assume that the combination of SDRBerry is working. Iam not using Pauls software, but it is on my list to give it a try.

Now having more bandwith and less CPU usage i  think the soapy should be made capable of doing more than 1 RX stream ... the gateware supports for the CL025 FPGA 6 rx slices. Using this in combination with openwebrx.de would be fun.

Hope there are volunteers who like to make that happen ; provide me with a Pull Request (PR) and iam willing to merge this into the github repo.

When you are using the pihpsdr with the radioberry firmware it is possible to use the N2ADR filter board. I do not know if Paul is supporting it with the SDRBerry; he is indeed able to use i2c via soapy. That is a question for Paul.

Nice you like the project; it is all about learning by doing.... as said many times before the project is never finished, there is always something to extend or to improve.

Enjoy

Johan, Does the RPI5 version support the Radioberry Pre-amp?
Thank you

Hi all,

The N2ADR board sdrberry can support. You can configure the I2c commands in the gui in the setup page.
Only the pre-amp I am not using and not supporting at the moment in sdrberry.
I have taken a look, but I need more detail information what sdrberry should do to drive the board.
If someone can supply a requirement list like which I2C commands to send or which registers to read.
What functions are needed like measure temperature etc.
Or which commands to send to the fpga I can make a separate  page for the pre-amp.
Some help is appreciated. Also I cannot test I don't have a pre-amp board in my setup.

Paul
