Juice board vs RPI4/5

Hi all,
Planning to buy a Radioberry + preamp (already have a HL2). Question: is there a performance advantage (or any other) to use the juice board over RP4/5 than direct ether connection?

Hi Ronald,
I originally created the Juice board to improve two things:
1. A higher sample rate.
2. The ability to connect the Radioberry to a Windows or Linux machine via the Juice board.
Now, with the availability of the RPi 5, the sample rate is no longer an issue thanks to the use of PIO mode and state machines via PCIe; furthermore, almost the entire CPU is available for DSP and other applications. With the RPi 4, you quickly lose a core to the bit-banging mechanism required to read in the I/Q samples.
In short, if you decide to go with the Raspberry Pi, I would choose the RPi 5.
If you prefer not to work with Linux on a Pi, I would opt for the Radioberry + Juice combination.
Additionally, I am currently working on another alternative: an RB2 hub board featuring an RP2350 and Ethernet.
In short, there are plenty of options for putting together a configuration, each with its own challenges and/or limitations.
You have to enjoy tinkering to get started with a Radioberry.
