Just received my second Radioberry from Aursinc and are having a few issues.  One of which I know isn't an issue on my older board from them that I still use almost daily.  (green board)  The new one (black board) is +200hz off frequency.  I have to go in and add calibration.  I do not have to do this on the one I bought over a year ago.  Also the little modem chip gets really hot, pretty quickly.  I don't recall my other one getting as hot.  Maybe so.  I've only tested receive at this time and are using the latest pihpsdr.  DL1YCF released a new one last month.  Oh, and the frequency issue is the same running pihpsdr local or SDR Console on my other computer through the network.

Any input is appreciated.

Returned it with Amazon.  Got a replacement and is doing the exact same thing.  Is this the way these are now?  My green board early version did not have these issues?

do you have a high resolution picture of the board?

are you able to measure the master clock which if fed into the ad9866.

is the firmware receiving the right freq from the sdr program; so sending the right frequency to the gateware? the sdr program settings are ok?

if you are tx doing a tune is this also off?

as a reminder: i am not involved in selling boards i am only sharing my experiments!

Here is a picture I took.  I'm more curious if people received boards doing the same.  My first board from them about a year ago works just fine.  The replacement the just delivered does the same so maybe that's just how they are now.  They come with a fan now.  Maybe they know of the heat issue.  Haven't tried Tx yet.  Will do that after work.  As for the software, it's the same as what I use on my other Radioberry.  I am not changing the settings.  I will try to check your other items later.

this board is the 2 layer pcb version ; if the installed software is the same than the issue is not a sdr software setting issue.

please measure the master clock

Is that going to be on the GPIO?  Maybe DCLK?

The TX is off as well and using the calibrate in SDR Console will not adjust it.  I guess I'll return them.  Unless it's a easy fix.  Not the quality they used to be a year or so ago.  They are referencing your project and links to the software in the paperwork but are putting out a product that has issues.  Not sure you were aware of that.

2layer clock.jpgthis board is a redesign of what is published in the radioberry github repo and brought to the market.

the beta 5 board is the latest ; this pcb is a 4 layer board.

As said i am not involved in bringing radioberry boards to the market... iam not making any money with the selling of these boards and no one contacted me about anything.

to measure the clock you should measure the master clock indicate by the arrow.

This clock is 38.4 clock which is multiplied by the ad9866.

If it is not working return the product.

Enjoy

Is the board itself "off frequency", or is it just the filter centerline in PiHPSDR? Try hooking it up to a PC and check with Thetis — might be interesting!
In PiHPSDR, watch the vertical lines on the spectrum display. Tune to an HF AM broadcast and observe the carrier, both on the RPi and on the PC. Double check
freq display / vertical lines/ carrier ...

I noticed by ear.  I have to tune down 200k or the person doesn't sound right.  I'm sure you know that sound.  Happening on pihpsdr as well as net using sdr console.  I do not have this issue with the one I bought a few years ago.  I can correct with calibration and rit but shouldn't need to.  It's a defect in my eyes.  And ears.  Just need to know if there is a fix hardware wise before I send both back.  Shame because this is such a good project and the one place we could get them is sending these out.

I adjusted a setting I believe in radio tab to -325 and that brought it back on frequency both SSB and CW (I will take a screen shot )
