I enjoy reading the older amateur radio magazines (QST, 73, HR, CQ).

While going through the July 1967 issue of 73 magazine, I found an article devoted to VE0 callsigns, assigned to Canadian military and government vessels for amateur radio operation.

Here's the paragraph that caught my eye:

"Thus we see the Navy's story of VE0, but what about other ships? Let's go back in history to the British Navy of the 18th century and one of the most famous ships of all time -- HMS Bounty, the ship of Captain Bligh, the subject of one of the great classic stories of the sea. When MGM Studios decided to make a movie of this story, they needed a ship, and here in Nova Scotia we build pretty good ones. In Lunenburg town, in 1960, a new Bounty was built, launched and fitted out with 18th century regalia and 20th century equipment -- including ham radio. With a KWM-1 and a long wire, Spud Roscoe set up VE0MO, and made many an operator happy with a QSO and later, a QSL that was a thing of beauty..."

Included in the article was in fact a beautiful photo of the VE0MO QSL card with HMS Bounty.

If a beautiful picture accompanied the article, either send the photo or send the URL of the page you're talking about. Especially when it concerns a recently departed long time member of this group like Spud VE1BC

I did that for you,  Jeff, KH6O.

It would entail a trip to either the library or the Navy base computer lab to scan the picture. But it only takes a few seconds for someone to search for the July 1968 issue of 73:
