Hi

Sorry about that last. I did not check the address and felt KB had contacted me direct.

I would appreciate some help on RCA's Radiomarine Corporation for my own information.

RCA founded the Radiomarine Corporation in 1927 and terminated it in the late 1960's. When I made a run into New York in the 1970's one of the technicians told me someone in upstate New York had taken over the manufacture and maintenance of the RCA equipment.

Is that true?

Del Monte had two ships from 1971 until 1984 the BANANA PLANTER/3EGG and the BANANA REEFER/3EGH. I was told they were fitted with these RCA stations and they were painted a nice buff or beige colour and not the dull blue grey that RCA had been painting these stations. Were these last stations the 5U unit?

Is that true?

I have contacted Del Monte but they cannot help me with this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Spud,

The company that took over from the old RCA Radiomarine was EAC  - Electronic Assistance Corporation.

I sailed on a ship with their last telegraph console... It was equivalent to the RCA-6U.

The light grey one was the 6U …. I used one on the SS Panama KPGL…   the RCA consoles used voltage divider resitors instead of extra transformers… thus made

An excellent heating appliance.

Thanks for this Eric. Would you have a photo of a 6U or know where one might find one?
