The Penlee lifeboat , the
"Solomne Browne" was involved in a rescue attempt on the 19 Dec 1981 when
disaster struck off the coast of Cornwall South West England when it went to the
assistance of the coaster "Union Star" after its engines failed in heavy seas
,After the lifeboat rescued 4 sailors / crew members both vessels were lost with
all hands , in all 16 souls were lost including 8 volunteer lifeboatmen Although
this special event of the loss of The Penlee Lifeboat is a rememberance of those
that lost their lives it is not to commemorate the anniversary of the tragedy
but to use as a subject for the special event to coinside with my personal
annual RNLI collection / donation Any donations will be accepted and passed on
to the RNLI Please qsl direct with sae UK or 2 US Dollars for outside UK or via
bureau All qsos will be answered ,My special thanks to the RNLI for allowing the
use of the pictures for this qrz site ,The event starts May 10th on Top band
,80,40,30 mtrs, operating CW mode only for 14 days The qsl card is shown top
