Walter Kane (SK) at the 500/482/460 and HF position of West Creek, NJ Radio WSC in the 1980s. I also operated there but I have no photos.

Correction to message.

Walter J. Kane, III left WSC to join Globe Wireless. https://www.qrz.com/db/W4WJK and https://wjkane3.com/about

I thought Walter passed away because he let his amateur radio license expire but https://wjkane3.com/itinerary says
We're currently at Wine Ridge RV Resort at Pahrump, NV, with no immediate travel plans.

He gives his RV journey here:

So it seems Walter is alive and living in Pahrump, NV.

I am running both this email list and the Facebook group and occasionally one doesn't get all the information. The Facebook group is much more active.

I am glad Walter is alive but I am also sad that he didn't renew his W4WJK amateur radio license because he is a first class operator.

Below Walter's watch band there is a rotary switch that was used to select the frequency of the Scientific Atlanta 1 kW CW and MCW transmitter to 500, 482 or 460 (secondary working). There were additional switching to select any of the three Harris HF 5 kW transmitters.

The M/F transmitter at WSC was a Scientific Radio Systems transmitter, not Scientific Atlanta.
As far as I know Scientific Atlanta only made satellite communications equipment.

I used the same M/F transmitter at my station WKM/West Haven radio. It was later sold to KLC/Galveston Radio.
I think the Model number was SR-130 using two 3-500z’s in the final with the rest being solid state. When Scientific Radio Systems folded, much of its assets were purchased by Surplus Sales of Nebraska. At least until recently SS of N was still selling off Scientific Radio stuff.

Yes, you're right, Doug. I got the companies confused.

Do you have any photos of WKM/West Haven radio?

Sorry no.
The few that I had were lost in a coastal cottage flooded out by hurricane Sandy.
