I just received this message from our dear friend and senior Flight and Marine Radio Officer, 

Don Lionel Sirimanne, who is 103 years old.

Dear David, sorry for long silence I have been very Ill and now before the pearly gates of heaven to be with my wife in heaven. This is to say goodbye to you and wish you good health, peace and happiness. I gave your name and address to my daughter to post the book about my autobiography when she finds one.

We all knew it would eventuality come. You have been very lucky living over 100 years. I value your friendship greatly. I wish I had known you 20 years ago because I would have introduced you to some wonderful flight radio officers I knew, like Frank Chapman, NR1X who wrote the book "Talking to the World from Pan Am's Clippers".

Former Radio Officer/Navigator, Air Ceylon and KLM, Don Lionel Sirimanne has certainly lived a full life.

He and his late wife Olga (nee de Silva, who was the first poster girl stewardess for Air Ceylon) traveled the world in style as a married couple, Siri as Radio Officer and Olga as stewardess.
