Hi all,
Please join us for this webinar at 1pm GMT on the 21st of February! Registration link here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/Ta-XdStCSnG5uiOefOEu6Q

21st February - 1pm (UTC/GMT)

De-colonizing our bodies:  experiences and practices for reclaiming our whole body sovereignty

How has modernity shaped the way we perceive, inhabit, and relate to our physical bodies? What does it mean to “reclaim whole body sovereignty”? How do we free not only our minds, but also the body from the shackles of coloniality and extractivism? How do we unroot the old myth of separation and domination from the sacred soil of our physical sanctuaries? And how might we begin to see our bodies as living systems - extensions of our Earthly home, interwoven with the fabric of life?

Join us for an (un)learning journey guided by Wangui wa Kamonji. Together, we’ll dive deep into questions of decolonization, healing, and how to restore wholeness with(in) the sacred vessel that carries our story.

Interpretation into Spanish will be available for this webinar.

About the speaker:

Wangui wa Kamonji is called to be a retriever and bearer of indigenous Afrikan lifeways and practices for the regeneration of the continent. This manifests through research using academic and indigenous methods, Afrikan dance and movement practice, storytelling in written and oral forms, and facilitating public spaces for critical consciousness, decolonisation and transformation.

Environmental issues she has worked on include the spirituality of nature, ecological histories in conflict zones, resistance to coal industry, indigenous women’s seed restoration, and ecologically sound urban waste cycles in Kenya, local responses to oil production in Uganda, and agroecological alternatives to international agribusiness in Kenya and Tanzania. She was part of the inaugural FRIDA Climate and Environmental Justice Fellowship researching and writing multimedia pieces on the intersections of gender and climate justice in East Afrika.

This activity is organized by the Learning Thematic Group of the Global Tapestry of Alternatives.

Dear friends

I am offering an online session on drawing. This is the result of a unique study where the connection between what children experience, what they play which means toy making included and what they draw spontaneously have been observed for about 3 years.

If not interfered just like Play drawing is also a Cognitive activity to understand the real world in terms of the 2D realm of the printed space.

Please take part and also share if you want to stop producing clones through modern education.  Mind you AI is a much better clone.

UNDERSTANDING THE COGNITIVE IMPORTANCE OF DRAWING
Enable the potential of drawing as a cognitive process in children by freeing them from adult made rules.
" If children draw autonomously, before they learn to write, they will understand relation between the real world and its description"
Drawing as a tool for observation, abstraction, articulation, description, reflection, imagination and as a means to root oneself in the real world as well as to make the connection between the real world and the two-dimensional space of books and screens.

Based on my ‘experiential’ research into indigenous cognition and child development, I am offering an online workshop on the "natural cognitive foundation." This foundation is the root of the holistic, life-centered understanding characteristic of indigenous knowledge systems.

The workshop is designed for anyone feeling constrained by the abstract, disconnected "knowledge trap" of modernity.

If this resonates, I'd love for you to join us. And if you know others questioning the limits of our modern worldview, please feel free to forward this invitation. Please share this with colleagues or friends in your network who might be interested in exploring a deeper way of knowing and being.

You can find more details here:

Cognitive Foundation: The Sensory Basis of Knowledge Creation
Revisiting some fundamentals in the age of AI

Date & Time: 11th October, 3:00 – 4:30 PM IST
Format: Online, interactive, experiential
Suggested Contribution: ₹500 / $10

Modernity has created a dangerous rupture between life and knowledge.
By privileging abstractions, literacy, and now AI, we are losing touch with the natural ground of learning—our senses.

This rupture is not a small academic problem. It lies at the heart of today’s crises: ecological collapse, alienated education, dehumanized technology, and the erosion of community wisdom.

The workshop introduces Cognitive Foundation, developed through decades of observing children and engaging with real-world learning processes. It explores:

  • How the senses form the true ground of knowing, uniting aesthetics and cognition.
  • How literacy and abstraction, while powerful, create a knowledge delusion when cut off from experience.
  • Why AI and literate cognition belong to the same paradigm of disembodied knowing—and why this matters for the future of movements seeking justice and sustainability.
  • How reclaiming sensory experience is an act of resistance: reconnecting knowledge with life, community, and the Earth.

This will not be a lecture but an experiential session. Together we will explore how the mind hijacks the body’s intelligence, and how to sense the difference between knowledge as delusion and knowing rooted in lived experience.

Suggested Contribution:  Rs. 500/ $ 10
