Policy positions on carbon and biodiversity credits and DAOs

I am researching the issue of carbon and diversity credits and funding of Nature through cryptocurrencies and DAOs - in general the topic of the financialization of Nature. I am doing this research to develop a policy position for an organization I am in which has an opportunity to fund forest preservation through carbon credits.

The deep ecology position on this is to reject carbon credits to preserve forests. A common policy position is to promote them. A friend whom I respect who has worked for the World Resources Institute and has worked on REDD+ strongly favors the credits.
