Giving it to corporations 1st seems radically wrong "Citizens United”:
(USA: Supreme Court case Citizens United v. FEC)
use the standard legal citation: Citizens United v. FEC, 558 U.S. 310 (2010),
which refers to Volume 558 of the U.S. Reports, page 310, decided in 2010.
This case, while not granting "personhood" directly,
extended free speech rights (First Amendment) to corporations for political spending, impacting campaign finance.

Helena Paul <h.p...@gn.apc.org>: Dec 30 12:33PM Thank you Ashish! The granting of legal rights to non-human species and to elements of ecosystems such as rivers is crucial. The article demonstrates the devastation we cause by introducing an invasive alien species. The Indigenous Peoples lose their bees and their honey and there may be many native plants dependent on these stingless bees that are now no longer pollinated. One of the things we should learn from Indigenous Peoples is to observe and learn about the ecosystems we inhabit and thus avoid destructive behaviours and introductions of alien species, as well as the use of chemicals such as pesticides and insecticides, crucial to intensive monoculture agriculture but highly destructive of native ecosystems.
