The Speech Heard Round the World
Brilliant Speech Mark Carney. But Wrong Sign in the Window
Although his lyrics are different, his tune is resonant (for me, and collectively) with Kothari et al.'s "Pluriverse," EF Schumacker's "Small is Beautiful," Helena Norberg-Hodge's Local Futures, Daniel Christian Wahl's Bioregioning, and on and on, where many of us--however differently--are converging. What we are aiming for is itself a "nested system."
My own argument is from the Wicked Problems meme, which holds there is no single, sufficient way to depict a wicked problem. There IS an "objective reality," but it is a complex reality. (It only shows itself in parts. Different facets from different perspectives. Hence the need for participatory stakeholder work."
Our needed but underdeveloped survival skill is to synthesize, to the extent we cognitively can.
