Dear Ashish,

what a useless question you have put on the table! Why should a text written by Mr. Francis have any impact at all, when all the brilliant, scientific texts of great scientists have failed to have any positive impact at all? The late Mr. Francis and his associates have had no impact at all. In order to answer the question, we must first understand how impact, i.e. ecological impact, comes up as depicted by the formula:
(Ecological) Impact = Production x Affluence x Technology. In short, I = P x A x T.  If any of the factors (P, A, or T) changes, I will also change accordingly. Reduce for instance affluence (of the Americans or the Indian middle class), negative ecological impact will go down.
However, it would be good if you translate and publish the said text of Mr. Francis. He was leader of a big party. It may be worth reading it.

Yours sincerely
Saral Sarkar

Dear Luis,
many thanks for sending the links. But I am a little disappointed. Seeing its length, I have doubts whether I will be able to read it to the end. However, I should try, because to comment on a text without reading it, is unfair.
My view in short, humans are animals, highly intelligent, but this intelligence is generally used to increase affluence, not to reduce it. P is going down slowly, but this is  probably not to the liking of Mr. Francis.
Of course, we understand the ecological crisis. But we are also addicted to affluence. So what to  do? After me the deluge.

Best wishes
Saral
