Dear colleagues,

Greetings! We'd like to call your attention to a new open access special issue in the journal Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems. Building on the momentum and enthusiasm for The Politics of Knowledge project, this peer-reviewed issue will focus on “Ways of Knowing and Being for Agroecology Transitions: Contested Knowledges, Agroecologies, and the Future of Food.”

You can find the full Call for Papers here.

In brief, this issue invites a range of papers (review articles, original research, commentary) in a range of languages (translation support is available) to help us better understand the politics of knowledge in and around transitions to agroecology. We have identified 5 main thematic areas:

  • meanings & politics of knowledge and evidence
  • contested ground
  • mobilizing knowledge
  • research-action agenda
  • institutional change

We encourage papers that address these questions through empirical, reflective, and critical perspectives. We also welcome papers that add to the above questions while remaining within the scope of this call.

The deadline to submit an abstract is September 15th, 2022 and the anticipated deadline for full paper submission is Feb 1, 2023.

Please note that all proposed papers (abstracts) will be screened to assess the fit with the special issue and to achieve geographical and thematic balance. All invited papers will go through peer review, and in the spirit of mutual aid and to support the collective project, contributing authors will also serve as peer reviewers for other papers in the special issue.

Finally, we appreciate any help you can give to boost this CFP by sharing with your networks or sending it directly to colleagues whom you believe might take interest.

Best wishes,

Maywa, Colin, Francisco, Amanda, and Lauren
