We are writing to share this petition and request from colleagues in Argentina.

We are asking for your *support in preventing financial actors such as the World Bank Group, IDB Group, EIB, and EBRD from financing mining projects in glaciers and the periglacial environment in Argentina* .
*Argentina Glacier Law in force protects all glaciers and the periglacial environment, and *prohibits mining* in these critical ecosystems. However, Congress intends to amend this law without meaningful opportunities for public participation or scientific debate, in order to allow mining activities.
*McEwen Copper Inc. has already signed a collaboration agreement with the IFC (World Bank Group)* for its Los Azules copper project. It has been denounced for impacts on rock glaciers and is one of the projects benefited by the amendment. In addition, it is believed that there may be ongoing dialogue between multilateral banks and national authorities to support the implementation of the reform.
