Subject: Join us for our upcoming online class on food and climate justice
Date: January 23, 2023 at 6:54:49 PM GMT-5

Our course "Food and Climate Justice" begins in just over three weeks - sign up here today!

Taught by long-time ISE instructors Brian Tokar and Grace Gershuny, class sessions will be held on Thursdays at 1pm Eastern time for eight weeks, from February 16 to April 6.

The extraction of resources and exploitation of marginalized populations for food and energy production, especially in the Global South, are major contributors to worldwide environmental and social degradation. Meanwhile, all around the world, grassroots movements are playing a central role in developing a community-centered response to the climate crisis.

This course will offer a Social Ecology perspective on the background and potential of the climate and food justice movements to resist further damage from fossil fuels and agribusiness dominance, while building ecologically harmonious and equitable food and energy systems that can restore soil health, biodiversity, and climate stability.

Each week features presentations by guest speakers from frontline communities who are shifting the paradigm towards the fundamental principles of non-hierarchy, direct democracy, and unity in diversity.

This course is also available to be taken for college credit or as a self-directed flex course.
