story: Healing without touching others!
There was a man who wanted riches and fame.
From the time he grew up, in school, in college, at work, he just wanted riches!
One day he went to satsang and it changed his life!
He got inspired and decided to go away and do Tapasya (Pray/Meditate).
He did Tapasya for many years and one day Devatas came and gave him Darshan and told him to ask for a boon.
The Tapasya he had done had changed him, and he wanted riches no more.
So he said give me the boon that when I touch someone sick, he will get well, and if I touch a tree that is dying, it will become vibrant again!
The Demigods agreed.
As they were leaving, he changed his mind and the Demigods were thinking that maybe now he will ask for riches.
But what he told them shocked them!
He said if I heal the sick people and sick trees, I should be able to do it without touching them.
Just my shadow when I pass should be able to heal them!
The Gods were surprised but agreed.
Moral of the story:
One thing that tell as this tells us is how satsanga or holly association can change our life and the way we think.
Normally everyone in this material world desire riches in order to fulfill desires for there own enjoyment.
This desires are endless and cannot be never fulfilled. But in association of sadhus our mind can change and we can desire real values. Then we are not more concerned with our desires but we develop intention how to help others. Then all our resources and ability's are used in that direction.
The other question one may ass is, why did he change his boon and ask for just his shadow instead of his touch to heal the sick people and trees???
It is because if he did it through touch, then he would become a celebrity and people would make a God out of him and hound him everywhere he went.
Devotee do not want name and fame. He just want to help others, but he wanted to be able to be alone when the need arose and continue his meditation and tapasya. He had realized that all this fame and interaction with people will just take him far away from Radha and Krishna!

This is the sign of a true devotee!
The great devotee Bhaktivinoda Thakura has said that the devotee who all life serve Lord without anybody knowing will for sure return back to Godhead? Whay? Because he is serving without motivation, ahautuki apratihata. Also his false ego will never manifest as he is not doing service who is know by others. In this way he cannot get praise and fame who have ability to disturb ones own bhakti.
