Sharad Purnima festival 2014

Hare Krishna,

We are very happy to invite you for the Sharad Purnima festival. This festival shall be celebrated on October 8, 2014. This is also beginning of Kartik (Damodar) month.
Following is the significance of the festival.

Krishna Saradiya Rasayatra:

The first full moon of the autumn season marks the celebration of Krishna's dancing with the gopis. On this day the deities of Vrndavana are nicely decorated in white. Krishna-lila dramas are enacted. Because the moon is very auspicious, the Vrajavasis leave pots of sweet rice exposed to the full moon for the whole night, to turn the sweet-rice into amrita.

Following is the schedule for the festival,

Evening

5:00 pm - Kirtan

6:00 pm to 9:00 pm -
Darshan and Kirtan and short lecture by H. H. Radhanath Maharaj

You are cordially invited along with your family & friends.
(There is no dinner prasadam).

Importance of observing Kartik (Damodar) month

In the month of Kartika one should worship Lord Damodara and daily recite the prayer known as Damodarashtaka, which has been spoken by the sage Satyavrata and which attracts Lord Damodara.
(Shri Hari-Bhakti-Vilasa 2.16.198)

Lord Krishna is pleased by the offering of a single lamp during the month of Karttika - Skandha Purana.

If even for a short time somebody burns a lamp in the temple of Lord Sri Hari, then whatever sins he has acquired for millions of kalpas (1 kalpa = 1000 yugas) are all destroyed. - Skandha Purana.

The timings for offering lamps in the temple;

Morning : 8:15 am to 8:45 am
Evening : 7:30 pm to 8:00 pm (from October 9, 2014)
