Lovely hashers and other unfortunates on my hit list!

We've lost a Turing Relay leg 3 runner to illness and I'm looking for a replacement! Could you run a half marathon-ish distance from Waterbeach (Clayhithe Bridge) to Ely on the East side of the river tomorrow (Sun 29 March), starting at 11:40 BST? More detail on the route can be provided...

Conditions are good underfoot and we'll recover with chips and sandwiches in the Albert pub, Ely afterwards! It'll be great!

Email me by 5pm today if you're up for joining team Minerva! NB. 'I'm too slow' does not cut it as an excuse!

On heroics!
Kristy

Just been round the last leg marking the key changes of direction.
Note; at the approach to Upware there are roadworks with a plastic barrier separating the vehicles from pedestrians. I’ve marked the sharp left hand turn off the road to go along the grass track leading to the pub. If running on the road one red barrier is missing to access the grass track.
After the ‘5 Miles from Anywhere’ I’ve marked the turning off the road to go across a new footbridge & metal kissing gate.
Marked is the left turn at the end of the river section before crossing the Station Road bridge. After crossing the bridge the turn to the right is marked to return to the river bank. The turn-away from the river to go up Jubilee Gardens is marked.
The last mark is to the right at the Porta at the top of the hill towards the Cathedral - don’t go through the Porta.
All marks are in flour.

Thanks Jellybean.

Does anyone have any thoughts on shoes for leg 1 tomorrow? Will regular trainers be ok or would trail shoes be better?

Cheers
Mufti

I forget in my last note to mention that I (or more likely Stuart) will mark the change of direction approaching Waterbeach to avoid runners ending up in the station carpark. I think we had a USAF Navigator go wrong at this change of direction!

Is anyone leaving Ely just after the finish (2:15ish) to come back to waterbeach/cambridge  (ie not going to the pub)?  I'm a bit stuck  - I need to get back to Cambridge asap, but Network Rail have decided they don;t run a railway this Sunday, so the transport options are rubbish!

I've just the message and contacted a nice cycling being. If he gets back to me with a positive response, I'll let you know. But I might need to extend deadline time...

If you already find someone, let me know.
