Dear plebeians

This Thursday*, it will be the FIRST EVER THURSDAY IN MARCH 2024!  THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER!  So, in celebration of this unique astrological event, I have commanded that a HASH be assembled in the fair hamlet of Coton, a mere two-and-a-bit miles from the steaming metropolis that is Cambridge.  For those of you with the magic of googlemaps, the incantation of arrival may be found here:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/xMMqMnL7ChsJXTr16   By royal command, your Hare shall be the notorious Penis Beaker, and from the Plough in Coton shall he commence his trail-laying deviousness, and there shall the surviving hashers reconvene in order that they be allotted punishment or ...errrmm.. more punishment** for sins uncovered by the Hare, or more likely invented by their peers***.

Because I am away communing with the celestial wind-gods in Western Australia, you shall be commanded by the esteemed BRIAN, who is known to one and all as a fair and just arbiter of beer-centric discipline and a skilful master of random hash banter.  Plus he's faster than you are, so you'll have no chance of running away.  Resistance is futile.

I have arranged for the weather to be kiiiiinda OK, without too much mingingly-freezing slush tricking inexorably into your collective gussets.  Meanwhile, over here it's a sunny 30C, the wind is filling in to 20kts SSW and I must away to shred some waves. For such are the onerous duties of a Glorious Leader.  Try not to catch pneumonia whilst I am away, all of you?

Which royal? I thought we'd run out of ones that work.

Brian.

I've been laid up in bed with an illness that is not registering as covid. In the meantime the real star is the co hare Mountain Girl, credit where its due!

FF While you are in Oz maybe you can re educate the locals on the origins of shoe drinking: https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2024/mar/04/kylie-minogue-shoey-australian-culture-explained-origins?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

...and there goes my plan to blame everything on PB!

  • Bring a torch
  • Maybe bring some spare socks - hopefully it might have dried out slightly by Thursday, but the countryside is kinda soggy at the moment.  The trail is planned to avoid visiting the most aquatic bits (honest), but there will be plenty of shiggy.
  • If you want food at the Plough, you will need to pre-order before we start the trail, to collect when we return, as their kitchen closes at 8:30.

Should be plenty of parking on road past the Plough.

See you on Thursday

Just a reminder that the First Thirstday hash is TONIGHT, at 7pm, from the Plough in Coton!  Be there, or be eating handfuls of sugar-puffs directly out of the box whilst hiding in the airing-cupboard with a pair of old underpants over your head.  I know what I'LL be doing...

C'mon Diana, hashing has to be preferable to chewing on Jeremy's used sugar puffs!
