Lovely hashletes!

Congrats to all who ran the handicap 5k!

Results are in ****drumroll**** and I can announce that it was a clean sweep for Spookyhouse with Tom first finisher and Spooky  closest to bingo at only 4 secs off prediction. Some rather speedy times in there, and Claire gets special mention for being the only one to use the excuses box to give an excuse for a fast time! Hats off for a champion DNF by Dai too - hope your calf has forgiven you now.

Here are the full results in all their glory, with those above the bingo line slightly faster than predicted and those below the bingo line slightly slower than predicted. Predictions mainly by Whippet (I predicted Helen & Natalie), who had us all finishing within 3.5 mins and a good number chasing others right on their heels :-)

 Position / Runner / finish time / Handicap (mins) / 5k time / Note

1 / Tom /             28:04 / 1 / 27:04 / First finisher
2 / Graham B /      28:57 / 5 / 23:57 / Second finisher
3 / Winston /        29:02 / 2 / 27:02 / Third finisher

5 / Yilmaz G /       29:10 / 3 / 26:10
6 / Norbert /        29:25 / 10 / 19:25 / Fastest overall
7 / Helen C /        29:30 / 0 / 29:30
8 / Neil S /           29:34 / 10 / 19:34
9 / Claire /           29:34 / 9 / 20:34 / Fastest lady

Comments and excuses!
Thanks for these - enjoyed reading them!

Gus: Meh. Poor route choice on Stourbridge Common was slow and then miscounted laps so ended up running 6km instead of 5 and got the pacing all wrong. Otherwise good.
Norbert: Good speed!
Helen C: Strava 5K PB! :D (Not lifetime PB, I only started using strava last summer but I've not run this fast in over a year and I'm happy about it!)
Neil S: Time adjusted upwards for running shorter route 3.00 miles in 18.56
Claire: The magic GPS's say it was a bit short!  Maybe 4.9 km.
Beerstop: First fast run after 8 weeks of recovery from injury
Natalie: Ran right after boot camp
The Yorkshire Whippet: Started a bit quick as usual. No harm done apart from not being able to stay with 2 quicker runners!
Victoria: It was hot and humid and hard!
Kristy: So many excuses, but I'll go with my watch added a minute to my time! No really! I'm pretty sure I ran at a fairly consistent pace but it thinks I was a minute slower over the first kilometre. I don't believe it!
Dai: After an extended period of not running in groups (or at least not running with Whippet level performers looking to set a pace) I decided to test my lockdown legs and join the Wednesday effort. My overexcitement at fast company (and an attempt to keep everyone from disappearing over the horizon) led to an unusually fast start and a swift insistence from my right calf that we quickly adopt a pace very much closer to zero and return to base. Well impressed by the 5 other efforts though who really emptied the tanks. Had a nice chat when they got back and also saw a rainbow at the end so well worth the outing. 4/5 review on TripAdvisor

Lovely hashletes!

Congrats to the intrepid runners who ran the handicap 5k last night and thank you to Stuart for the trail, organisation, timing, starting twig and bag service, to Anna for timing assistance, and to Liz, Ben and Edward for the 1k and 4k cheersquad.

Here are the full results in all their glory, with those above the bingo line slightly faster than predicted and those below the bingo line slightly slower than predicted.

Position / Runner / finish time / Handicap (mins) / 5k time / Note

1 / Ed (not WB) / 28:20 / 6 / 22:20 First finisher
2 / Ben V / 29:03 / 9 / 20:03 Second finisher and second fastest time
3 / Claire / 29:07 / 7 / 22:07 Third finisher and fastest Lady
4 / Victoria / 29:27 / 7 / 22:27 Second fastest Lady
5 / Jesus / 29:32 / 8 / 21:32
---------------------Bingo line --------------------------------
6 / Kristy / 30:10 / 2 / 28:10 Closest to bingo, proving the naysayers wrong!
7 / Gosia / 30:11 / 6 / 24:11
8 / Christian / 30:20 / 11 / 19:20 Fastest time
9 / Linda / 30:36 / 0 / 30:36
10 / Tom / 32:09 / 4 / 28:09
11 / Chantal and Jesus the dog / 32:14 / 6 / 26:14
12 / Peter / 32:31 / -2 / 34:31

Voila! We all finished within 4 minutes on some forbidden footpath and then we went to the pub. If it's too confusing, come to the next handicap 5k to find out what it's all about.

This marks the end of official speed training. I'm gonna have a couple of weeks off then unofficial Wed speed training will start (unless someone else declares it sooner).

On fire!
Kristy
