Ikeep receiving the message that license manager is not working or installed incorrectly any time I want to use autocad. I am currently working only on 30 day trial. Would you be able to help me with it?
I (eventually) went to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\ and found that the installation program had created a folder with a name that had the wrong Product Key (the Product Key used by the installation program was something like 919J1 and should in fact have been Product Key 001J1). Once I changed the product key, the AutoCAD program ran and I was able to put in the Authorization Code. The correct path and folder was thus: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\001J1_2018.0.0.F
So I've gotten to this same point multiple times. I go to C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS and then it shows both 001J1 and one named 919J1. Did you just delete the 919J1 folder and leave the 001J1 folder in tact. Or did you follow the posts above and delete the LGS.DATA file within the folder?
I've had 2014 versions of autocad run on this computer a long time ago. I tried to get 2017 earlier this year and got the same License Manager not working message, so I wonder if there is anything from and older version that would be causing this error.
I'm running an ASUS laptop from 2012, loaded with CORE i7 Processor and 16GB RAM on windows 10 Home. I needed to do a fresh windows install recently and then, my Autodesk products, which include CIVIL 3D 2018, 3D Studio Max 2018, AutoCAD Raster Design and ReMake, all under the Student Licence.
I've done a complete uninstall of ALL of my Autodesk products and re-installed Civil 3D 2018. The installation was made from my computer since I downloaded the software from your servers recently instead of installing it directly. It went smoothly and I was asked for a restart after the install. Did the restart and when I started the AutoCAD I got this error again. This time, I did not get to do the Licence registry, it goes directly to this error and shuts itself down.
I ended up getting mine to work. I uninstalled ALL Autodesk products. Then I went through all C:\ProgramData and C:\Users\AppData folders and completely deleted any Autodesk folder files. It was a tedious process, but it worked.
Search and destroy... after uninstalling every Autodesk product with RevoUninstaller (it also cleans registry entries), I opened windows explorer and in the search field I typed Autodesk for a search in drive C. After deleting every single autodesk file and folder, restarted the computer and reinstalled Civil 3D. It went smoothly, also with the activation process. I finished my installations today without problems and I think I figured out what might have caused this problem, for me at least. After I had every thing installed prior to the licence crash, I remembered to change the computer's name from some strange row of letters to something more meaningful to me. I think that was the trigger for my licence crash.

Me too: I deleted the files as suggested here and in many others websites (also in the Autodesk's FAQ) but my AutoCAD 2018 for students doesn't work yet. Always "License manager is not functioning or is improperly installed".
Some users have had success in performing a clean uninstall of 2018 per these instructions. Just make sure to adjust settings if you have other Autodesk products already installed/working on your machine.
1. Clean out your personal temp (%temp%) folder. Make sure you have full admin rights, set Windows UAC to never notify and if possible disable your Anti-Virus/Malware scanning utilities. Also the download should occur over a hard wired connection to the Internet and not over WIFI.
3. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. This means save each part to your hard drive. Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.
4. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).
5. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.
6. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.
7. Follow the installation steps for your product. At this point you could cancel the installation or create a deployment.
I spent 4 hours troubleshooting this myself. Loading and unloading. Scouring through my account. I finally figured out that they had the wrong email/username for my Software Coordinator and had given it all of the permissions. Once I checked off those permissions and checked them on for my Contract Manager, which has the correct email/username, I was able to open the software.
