Folks,

Apologies, but the planned meeting for Thursday 9th October (on Vector Network Analysers by Neil M0SVN) has been postponed. I know a number of people (including myself) were looking forward to that. We will welcome Neil back in the new year.

So:

I am currently awaiting confirmation that John Portune W6NBC/M0GCK, via zoom, can take the slot with one of his excellent talks. Most likely this will be a new one on Patch Antennas. In the unlikely event that John cannot make it, we will have  a natter night at the scout hut.

As those who attended his previous talks on optimal mag loop antennas and adhesives/plastics will remember, John is a superb communicator. He loves virtually visiting the UK and indeed lived over here for a while.

Venue: 2nd Woodley Scout Group, Vauxhall Park, Vauxhall Dr, Woodley, Reading RG5 4EA https://what3words.com/bowls.blame.lace .
Eyes down: 8pm.
Zoom info at the end.

Refreshments (tea/coffee) will be available as usual with a generous supply of biscuits. Please bring a mug if you wish to partake. You are also welcome to bring along your favourite tipple.

That sounds good I'm so new to all this that I would appreciate knowing more  about antennas, I still have  3 projects  on the burner, getting my licence, firing up my CB 27 MHz rig  in anger and also programming my yaesu hand held transceiver ft-65e for action .
Julian.  Call sign night train ......

Folks,

John W6NBC has confirmed he can be with us on Thursday 9th October at 8pm BST on zoom. There's a few final bits of admin to do (ensuring he has the zoom link!) but I think we are close. Unless anyone disagrees, the time difference will be 8 hours?

John is a great friend of RADARC. Please be there in person or on zoom if you can. We are lucky to get this talk.

Let's hope for good conditions to west coast USA on the internet. He is in Santa Maria just off route 101 Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) north of LA. Thinking 50MHz mobile here, CHIPS (California highway patrol); large whip antennas on bikes. https://www.wb6nvh.com/CHP/CYCLE3.htm for Motorola/GE fans. GE/RANGR are great, powerful FM PMR radios. Needs a talk, really.

https://www.qrz.com/db/W6NBC is well worth a read. There's a ton of techie stuff there but also notably "I am also  active in digital photography, Web Site design, cribbage, pipe organs, Elks, and steam railroading, and I LOVE sushi." I agree. Seeing a moose/elk close up and personal is an experience of a lifetime :-)

Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday!
