Dear member,

RADARC will be an entrant in the restricted section (100W) of the SSB Field Day context. This is a 24 hour phone contest starting at 14:00 local on Sat 5th September - weekend after nest. We will be using my K4, a new switched antenna that Jim G0LHZ has been working on, with the doublet and SGC ATU as a tested fallback.

In previous years, members have generously helped with set-up and tear-down. We would be grateful if members could do so again this year. We especially need help with set-up, so if you can spare a couple of hours on Saturday, that would be most appreciated.  Set-up will start at 10:00 local time on Saturday 5th, and tear-down at 14:00 local time on Sunday 6th.

If there are any operators who can help out, even for an hour or two, please contact me (David M0DHO). Currently we have 5 confirmed operators (M0DHO, G0LHZ, G0RGK, M0NPK, G4AAO).

As usual, Simon M0ZSU will be running a BBQ on Saturday evening, subject to mitigating fire risk. Members are welcome to bring something to cremate on the barbie and BYOB. I think we will also have our usual cooked breakfast on Sunday morning. Members are also invited to visit to see what we get up to in field day contests and say hello.

We have permission to use our usual field at Sonning Farm for the weekend.  I will confirm this a few days before the contest when I speak with the farm manager and email the members if there is a last minute change.
Many members are familiar with the site, but for any that are not...

If you come down Charvil Lane from the A4 towards sonning, just as you enter Sonning, you will see some large farm buildings on your left. Opposite that, is a gate to Broadmoor Lane. If the gate is padlocked, the number to unlock is 03065. The "usual" field is 2nd field on the left.

If you need to contact me during that weekend, my mobile is 07761 842220. If I don't answer during the contest, I'm probably operating.

Best regards,
David M0DHO

Mick Spencer, Sonning Farm Manager, has confirmed our usual field for this weekend's SSB field day.
Jim, G0LHZ, will be bringing his new switched dipole for us to try. Simon will be bringing his BBQ.
Weekend weather is looking good.

Setup starts at 10:00 local on Saturday.

Thanks to all helpers and operators.
Best regards,
David M0DHO
