I saw some good reports on this  Western HF-10 antenna and also wondered if any members had got one and their findings.

Update - I just noticed that is goes back 7 years !!!!!!!

I recently contacted the maker Fred M0BZI of the Western HF-10 to see if they were available.
I got a quick reply and the news is that due to ill health they are no longer being made, which is a great shame as several of the club purchased them after I did and the antenna has given great service.

Get well soon Fred.

Update on HF-10

I saw an issue with the antenna and it came down to the 4:1 Balun which suffered water ingress and a poor joint when I got it dismantled from it's glued case.
I had obtained a replacement HF-10 and changed it out because of age and finding the SWR would increase over a TX period of time and return to normal later on. This was due to Balun heating effect.
My replacement antenna HF-10 again worked well and good SWR across the bands.
Pictures of the original Balun showing the soldered connections and the way the ferrite core is fixed in place which can slip out of the cable tie holding it.

Further work I found the replacement antenna suffered the same Balun heating!
So I purchased a replacement Balun rated at 500W from Mirfield Electronics in Bingley and the results have been good with no issues seen so far.

I know several members of the club may still be using a Western HF-10 and this resolves the issues I saw.
