Folks,
We came a very creditable 6th (of 9) in the "Overall Results Mix and Match Section" as G3ULT/P. It's no mean feat to put on stations on 6m, 4m 2m, 70cm and 23cm!
Many thanks to all involved and I trust you enjoyed the weekend despite it being extremely hot (roasting) at times in the main operating tent! A nice breeze through the ham van made operating there quite enjoyable.
Definitely what we do have is an excellent support and catering crew. Without that the event would not be possible. I include in that all the people that kindly came along to help with setup and teardown.
Safety is always a concern at field days and I was delighted people were actively thinking about it. We looked after each other - which is vital.
Despite activity levels not being particularly high, I think it's an interesting contest to do as it covers low band VHF up to essentially microwaves. So lots of different propagation modes. We did manage to work into Newfoundland on 6 metres!
Maybe next year we will broaden it into a bit of a "radio festival" and portable operating/experimenting event generally.
