At the club yesterday it was mentioned that a DMR repeater antenna had been repositioned and was now reachable from Reading. Can someone give me the details please.

Hi All

The UHF (70cm) DMR repeater GB7BK is one of several repeaters run by the
Thames Valley Repeater Group.
It can be found on channel DVU59 (Output frequency: 439.7375MHz, Input
frequency: 430.7375MHz).
It uses a DMR 'Colour Code' of 3 - which is analogous to the CTCSS code
used on analogue repeaters.

It is part of the DV Scotland Phoenix network of 77 interconnected UK
repeaters spread across the whole
country [ https://dvsph.net/ ].

A recent change to the network has added 'user activated' chat
talkgroups 2351, 2352 and 2353 on slot 1.
Significantly these are cross-connected to the other main DMR network -
Brandmeister - which brings in a
further 84 plus UK repeaters.

GB7BK now has talkgroup 2350 as a static (always on) talkgroup on slot
1. This is the Brandmeister UK wide
calling channel and, as it is also cross connected to the Phoenix
network, it is effectively a UK wide
channel on Phoenix also. At the moment only a few Phoenix repeaters have
talkgroup 2350 as a static
talkgroup but hopefully this will catch on.

This means that wherever you are in the UK, if you are in range of a
Phoenix or Brandmeister repeater, you
can put out a call on talkgroup 2350 slot 1 and your call will come out
on GB7BK. It is a calling channel so it is
recommended that you QSY to one of the user activated chat talkgroups
(2351, 2352 or 2353) after
making initial contact.

A full list of Phoenix talkgroups can be found here:
https://dvsph.net/talk-groups

You can see real-time activity on the Phoenix network here:

Hi Denis,

Thank you for the information, the addition of 2350 and chat Talk groups to GB7BK providing the interconnect with Brandmeister makes GB7BK so much more useful.

Many of us use Brandmeister so being able to connect via the repeater introduces mobile use and easier access without the need for a Hotspot.

Thanks for making this available.

Thanks and regards
Colin M0XCA
