Hi all
Here we have a very good example of the ASCOM SE550 4 metre transceiver.
It has just been converted to 4 metres after spending many years stored who knows where. Bought by me at the Dorset rally this year it has been fully converted and realigned onto the 70 MHZ band.
When I inspected it for conversion it was found that the PA module was faulty, probably down to a manufacturing fault as no heat sink compound was found on the PA module.
This was also probably why the radio survived conversion for all those years. From the internal condition I don't believe the radio has ever been apart before.
The PA has now been replaced along with the all important heatsink compound and should not give any more problems.
A memory battery has been fitted so the radio remembers the setup information and channel details.
It comes with a mobile mount, genuine ASCOM power plug, fused lead, code plug, mobile mount and a genuine ASCOM microphone with perfect lead and plug.
The front panel is clean and the buttons are white, the display is bright and clear.
The radio just needs a small external speaker and you have a complete 20W 4 metre station to join the Tuesday evening net.
Specification
0.31 uV for 12dB Sinad
Deviation set to 2.5 Khz
20+ Watts output (adjustable 2.5, 5, 10 and 20 watts)

These radios are getting difficult to find these days especially in this condition.
It is a very nice radio and was tested on air during the RADARC 4 metre net last Tuesday.
Cost is a bargain price of £45
