Folks,
On Thursday 9th April we'll run another "Maker's Bazaar". It's an informal "show and tell" event where members bring along projects/interesting things to share and discuss ideas.
* "Mike G4CDF will present a novel means of measuring amateur power levels between 10W and 1kW up to frequencies of 4 GHz. This is highly experimental so may not work. Wish me luck!!"
* Simon M0ZSU will do something
* Dave G6AWF may do a bit on antennas/construction
* Gareth M7GRB will bring along his re-tasked HP 12V (-> 13.5V, adjusted iirc) meaty power supplies. Lots of amps there.
There are still slots available!!
It is informal - so you'll just need to be there to stroll through the busy streets of makerland on the night to see what happens!
* As a default, if required, I will possibly do something on (using) our newly-restored web SDR since that seems to have installed itself as a feature in my life.
https://sdr.radarc.org If there's interest, that possibly deserves a longer slot. Let me know. It is a great resource for testing and checking band conditions. Also getting started in digital voice modes and packet radio. It really is a "swiss army knife" with its features. Massive thanks to all involved and particularly Ian G5IPX who brought it to life originally, Chris M1CYE for turning it into a spatchcock chicken (I'll explain at some point) and Nick M0NPK for hosting the hardware, supplying received RF and network connectivity. It now has very big ears in the form of a diamond V2000 antenna quite high up. ODX so far has been PY on 6m (Rio) and Madeira islands on 2m. It spots to pskreporter as M0AAA.
Eyes down: 8pm.
Zoom info at the end.
Possible topics:
* Antennas (photos, sketches if that's easier)
* Experiments and experimental projects - not necessarily complete - or even started!
* Projects you may need some help with
* Cautionary tales
* Operating tips
* Project update
* Equipment restoration
* Cool Ali Express/Ebay purchases
* A short talk on your pet subject
The list is endless. Doesn't have to be radio related.
Part of the idea is to hook up people who are developing similar things or solving similar problems.
Length of talks/slots I expect to be maybe 5 to 10 minutes.
If you can give me advance notice you'd like to present something then that's very much appreciated otherwise we'll be delighted to hear from you on the evening!
Refreshments (tea/coffee) will be available as usual, with biscuits. Please bring a mug if you wish to partake. You are also welcome to bring along your favourite tipple.
