Hello there,
I know there are a few people in the Club who are interested in operating on 23cm.
A very useful signal source has been the Farnham 23cm Beacon/repeater GB3FM. This has had problems with its antenna and has been operating on a low antenna for quite a few months. However, the equipment has been re-connected to the higher antenna and is currently a good signal into my location in Caversham, Reading.
It is almost as good as it used to be, but quoting from the Farnham Repeater Group website “GB3FM has been put back into its normal aerial near the top of the tower. This is probably temporary. The aerial is currently behaving itself and performance is good, however as the aerial has not been replaced yet it is quite possible that performance will suddenly fall off, possibly if we get a spell of wet weather. We still intend to replace the aerial when resources permit”.
So, that’s good news and congratulations to the Farnham Repeater Group for improving things.
In case you’re not aware, the transmit frequency of GB3FM is 1297.050MHz, the receive frequency is 1291.050MHz. To enable talkthrough, you need to transmit a 1750Hz toneburst.
Perhaps, I’ll speak to you through this repeater. I’m listening from time to time.
All the best,
Chris, G4CCC.
Chris,
I think I have my gear configured correctly, I have a good signal from the repeater, but I havent found anyone to test with so far.
Can we make a sked or something?
