National Racial Justice Consultation and NYC CERD Working Group
Welcome to all our new members. Many of you have recently joined after attending a workshop or the working group meeting in NY and we hope to start making this list-serve into a real working group.
Please note that the Human Rights Project is the moderator for this list serve and will be coordinating a New York City shadow report that will be submitted to the CERD committee and fed into a larger national shadow report being coordinated by the US Human Rights Network
The aim of this group is:
To be
resource for information on CERD and the shadow reporting process
To
keep people informed, connected, and working on both the shadow report itself
and national implementation of CERD through local mechanisms.
Our
intention is to work with groups and individuals who are new to this process
and would like to integrate human rights into their local advocacy and organizing
efforts.
To
organize regional consultations and training sessions with racial justice
coalitions
Mechanisms & Resources:
We
will be periodically posting resource documents and took-kits
We
will be coordinating specific working group pages and asking for designated
coordinators for each working group
We
will be collecting testimonies, data(reports), and issues to include in the
shadow report
We
will be hosting NYC meetings and regional trainings *(application form coming soon on HRP website
