As many of you know, we are anticipating that the U.S. government will
file its second periodic report with the U.N. Committee on the
Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) later this spring. The US
Human Rights Network is planning to take on the coordinating function
for the CERD shadow reporting process. We are currently in the midst
of trying to raise funds for this coordination effort, but we
recognize that time is short for putting into place all of the
necessary planning and organizing that we need to make this process as
effective as possible. To that end, the Network would like to convene
an initial Strategic Planning Meeting with all interested
organizations and individuals. The meeting will be held on Wednesday,
April 4, from 1:00pm - 4:00pm at the offices of Global Rights in
Washington, DC. The address is 1200 18th Street, NW, Suite 602. We
will also arrange to have conference call access for anyone who will
not be in DC. Please let us know if you are able to attend the
meeting (either in person or by phone) by sending an email to
ror...@urbanjustice.org Also, please feel free to forward this message to anyone else who
might be interested.
Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you on April 4th!
