Georgia Tech Sailing Team - Fall 2016

Hey guys!

Hope everyone is as exciting for the upcoming season as I am!

Just wanted to give a few quick reminders and heads up as we head into the semester.

Practice - Practice will be Tuesday evenings, as determined at the end of last spring.  We will be trying to have the latest people leaving campus by 3:00, and on the water by 4:30.  There will be no practice this Tuesday, 8/23 (giving you guys plenty of time to read all your syllabi) 

Weekend practice will be determined on a more weekly basis as the schedule allows, with the first possible one being this Saturday.  Stay tuned for details.  The purpose of this would be mostly to get up to the lake and go for a sail to make sure all the boats are totally in order and ready for next Tuesday’s practice.  

If you cannot make Tuesday practice, just shoot me a quick email and let me know.  If there is a large number with class on Tuesdays, I will try to plan more weekend practices than I may otherwise do.

Regattas - I have updated the GT sailing calendar (www.gtsailing.org/calendar/) with all of our regatta dates for this fall, so please take a look and start figuring out your availability.  I will be sending out a survey in the next few days - much like Lauren’s - to figure out who can attend regattas, and will then start sending out who will be representing tech at each regatta.

Meetings -  Please please please come to the sailing club meetings Monday evenings! (Except for today - there is no meeting today 8/22) we love to see the representation and its a great time for us to figure out practice plans and debrief from regattas.  

Dues -  Race team sailors must still pay dues to the club.  Dues are 65 dollars and must be payed by the second meeting of the semester.  

Race Team Weekend - Has been planned for labor day weekend.  This is also the same weekend as New Member Barbecue.  For all the new guys, Race Team Weekend is really just a great time for us to get up to the lake, meet each other, bond over some sailing, and have a good time.  We will head up Friday evening (exact time tba) and camp Friday night, and stay through NMBBQ on Saturday.  The race team sailors are also a valuable asset to NMBBQ, as you all can take people out for boat rides (and hopefully not scare them to much since you all are such great sailors).
