Community Kwanzaa Celebration: Sharing and Sustaining the World
The Battle Creek Kwanzaa Committee announces its 1st Community Kwanzaa
Celebration which will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from
5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Faith Temple 382 Washington Ave in Battle Creek,
MI. This year's theme is: “Kwanzaa and the Seven Principles: Sharing
and Sustaining the World” KWANZAA 2011 is co-presented by Faith Temple
COGIC, 1st Congregational Church, the Urban League and the Battle
Creek Branch NAACP.
The central interest of this celebration is to provide information
which reveals and reaffirms the integrity, beauty and expansive
meaning of the holiday. The holiday, then will of necessity, be
engaged as an ancient and living cultural tradition which reflects the
best of African thought and practice in its reaffirmation of the
dignity of the human person in community and culture, the well-being
of family and community, the integrity or the environment and our
kinship with it, and the rich resource and meaning of a people’s
culture.
We invite the entire community to join us in this Community Kwanzaa
Celebration of family, community and culture. We ask that you to
bring a can good for admission but is not required. We plan to give
what we collect to a local food pantry and give away food baskets
while supplies last. Light refreshments will be served.
For more information please call Joe Hooper at 248-346-7385 or Samuel
Gray at 269-209-0293. We thank you for your support and we look
forward to your attendance.
