My organization along with the WMU Chapter of YBBW and Black Student Union will host the 1st Annual MLK Legacy Lecture with keynote speaker best-selling author and scholar Dr.Michael Eric Dyson. Dr. Dyson will discuss Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. & American Leadership in the 21st century.
Hailed as one of the nation’s most inspiring African Americans, *Dr. Michael Eric Dyson* has been credited with revitalizing the role of the public
intellectual with the fervor of an ordained Baptist minister. A popular University Professor of Sociology at Georgetown University, Dyson bridges gaps between generations, connecting civil rights identity to hip-hop culture while forging links between older and younger Americans, especially black Americans. As a cutting edge historian, he educates the general public on the significance of hip hop, not only in understanding black culture, but American cultural as well. With his powerful voice, Dyson reaches beyond race, addressing the universal commonality of American concern.
The MLK Legacy will be held on Sunday, January 15th 2012 at WMU's Miller Auditorium. Doors Open at 4:30pm with the program beginning at 5pm, Dr. Dyson speech will be promptly followed by a Q & A session and brief book signing.
