Rotaract club of Tripureshwor would like to invite you all to the
workshop, ‘Role of Youth in Climate Change’ jointly organized with its
parent club, Rotary club of Tripureshwor on Saturday, 5 February 2011.
The workshop is supported by ICIMOD whereby it will provide us with
the expertise/resource person for the workshop and publications on
climate change to be disseminated to the participants.
The resource people for the workshop are:
1. Mr Tek Jung Mahat, Node Manager, Asia Pacific Mountain Network, ICIMOD
2. Mr Majeet Dhakal, Chairperson, NYCA
3. Mr Shailendra Bhattarai, Managing Director, Surya Power Company Pvt Ltd
The workshop is a part of the programme ‘Youth Initiative for Climate
Change-Lets Begin with us’ which comprises of three phases:
· Role of Youth in Climate Change workshop- 5 February 2011
· Theatrical Act on Climate Change and Nature
Conservation by young theatre group- 26 February 2011
· Short Movie making competition on the theme ‘Climate
Change and its Impact on Lives of People’- 19 March 2011
The first phase is focused towards achieving our goal of building
knowledge on Climate Change; second phase on enhancing it and the
third on reinforcing.
Highlights of the workshop

will help in the short movie making completion
Publications/Information sheets and CDs on climate change
Some of the members chosen from the lucky draw will get an opportunity
to participate in the live programme ‘Youth Forum’ in Youth FM 96.8

‘Youth Initiative for Climate Change- Lets begin from us’, is a youth
focused programme to seek attention and raise awareness on climate
change. Climate change is a burning issue that has made adverse impact
on our lives. The negative impacts of it are not merely limited to
environment, weather conditions and agriculture but have extended to
Nepalese economy as a whole. It is inevitable that these impacts will
multiply in years to come. Hence, this is our humble attempt to make
youth aware about climate change related issues, enhance their
knowledge and reinforce so that they can carry out climate related
projects and activities in future independently to generate concerns
more on climate change.
We welcome you all to work hand in hand to create awareness and to
minimize the serious impacts of Climate change on human lives and
environment. Climate Change is a new issue but their impacts are
serious and inevitable. Let’s begin the learning from us to educate
others.
