Hello, I have tried what previous posts have said to do in terms of being unable to "Unable to unpack some files. This can happen when there is already a file with the same name in the directory that cannot be removed." Primarily E:/...steamapps/common/War Thunder/win64/aces.exe of my War Thunder Directory. I have attempted to delete the obsolete folder, config.blk, aces.exe, restarting and attempting again, running the launcher in administrator mode. I have no antivirus software other than the standard Windows Defender, which I cannot find, or use a quarantined folder to see if files are being kept there. I have never had this problem before. I have also updated my drivers, and after many restarts and attempts, the problem persists. After the launcher notifies me about the error, I can click OK and the "Download lost or deleted files" which only once has resulted in an actual download. Usually the launcher is in the "analyzing files" stage for quite some time (5-10 minutes) and immediately returns with the failure. Since I have been unable to get in game since 2 days ago, (11/17/2020), I am not sure if a patch was downloaded, I was last playing on the first release of the New Power Update and the only setting I changed was the new DLSS setting (at least that is what I think it was, similar name or such, cant get in game to check if I'm correct)

If anybody else has had this problem and can help me solve it it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I can attach a log if that would be necessary or helpful, though I don't know which one to submit.

My E: Drive is a hard drive connected through SATA. I have various USB devices plugged in but none that store data. My wireless headphones and TrackIR, Mouse and Keyboard are the only USB Devices plugged in. I can attempt a reinstall and will see what happens.

I went into Steam to uninstall, which I did. The library page now says Install. I noticed that my E: Drive did not have more open space to account for the fact that I just uninstalled War Thunder. I found the folders and opened the launcher that I apparently still had downloaded and it successfully updated and launched. So, at this moment, The error has been fixed but with no answer.

In this digest we would like to tell you about our continuing work on improvements and fixes in the game. You can find information about all updates that have been released in War Thunder on the website special section.

Another strange thing happened during the towing of vehicles. Armoured vehicles that were pulled or pushed would start to spontaneously accelerate and leave an exhaust. The reasons were figured out and everything has been fixed.

I get this msg when update starts:Could not unpack some files. This can happen when there is already a file with such name in directory an it could not be removed.....\steamapps\common\Wat Thunmder\win\aces.exeIs this common or rather how to fix this?

Stona_WT, Same issue with this update, "cannot unpack...", anti-virus updated, added aces.exe to its white list. This happen on 3 different computers. On one I have fully uninstalled and reinstalled war thunder, no change !!!

Please fix the performance. I appreciate all the work fixing bugs, but I feel the whole game being difficult to play due to performance worse than a bug. I am getting constant frame time spikes. I'm assuming this is due to the fact that one core is almost always maxed out. Should not be having this issue with a 5900x and a 3090

If you compare the size of the gtp package to the size of the (null) file that gets created, you should find that they are the same. Which would indicate that the entire package has been extracted. Some files for the same aircraft might be spread across two or more gtp packages and it may be worth opening all of them for a look.

So I assume then that for the Battles series adding a object would follow the ROF process and if you understood that then you should be able to make and install objects in this new game version, is that correct?

Again I assume there would need to be a special extractor for your particular 3d program, yet ROF used a old version of Max if I remember, not available anymore as far as I am aware so could something like Blender be used, or is this still to be determined by those who were then able to make objects for ROF?

All those Threads and topics are getting confused with the time. So I wrote to a forum Admin and ask for 2 new sub categories here in the Mod section. One for already released Mods, and one for those in WIP status.

my question was of a general nature put out there for others like yourself who had actually gone through the process with a similar game to this and who might be able to see what if any differences there are and in particular whether any of the ROF objects could be used in the Battles series and if so it would give those with no previous experience a starting place for their own work because ROF does actually have a SDK that can be followed for that game.

No - they should simply be placed in the appropriate folder structure (the same one from which the unpacked version came from as revealed by the unGTP tool) - you may have to create some of the folders if they're not already present.

Thank you Panthercules. So if I understand correctly, the modded files, when placed in the correct folder structure, will be used by the game instead of the packed originals, as long as we are running the game in mods on mode. Cool, this could open lots of interesting possibilities.

I'm not in front of my PC at the moment, but I wonder if the files that can be unpacked and modded include textures of the tracers as well as textures and parameters for other graphical effects (particle systems for explosions, smoke, vehicle dust etc.).

Based on what I've seen so far in the unpacked files, I strongly suspect that those kinds of textures are in there and such modding should be possible - I know I was able to mod the tracers in RoF so I would imagine the same should be possible in BoX, at least to some extent.

Also; any time the game gets an update, you would need to take the new fsb package, add your chosen mod all over again and repackage it for use. Alternatively if you are not a modder yourself, you'd have to beg and cajole the mod creator on the forums until they update it and supply the entire altered fsb package as a download for you. If you wanted two or more mods from more than one author... you would have to beg and cajole each of them to cooperate just to provide you with a new fsb file. etc. etc.

I don't think the grass is an add. iI think it's just a modification of an existing files. But we tried with Genius who did many 3D mod on RoF to import a new 3D model without success. I'm talking about something which is add to the editor.

I had pretty much given up on CM back in 2016 for various reasons and mostly lost interest in anything CM related as well. The announcment of CMSF2 has brought me back somewhat and, coincidentally, I am currently learning a new programming language. So I decided to write a little application I had wanted to write even way back then, which can extract scenarios from campaign files so you can look at them in the editor or edit them. Mad Mike's ScAnCaDe is a great tool for parsing scenario files, extracting campaigns and visualizing scenario and campaign metadata. However, it does not work with the 'legacy' CM games Shock Force 1 and Afghanistan. Also, who knows if Mad Mike is still around to update it anymore for future versions. He did a great job deciphering the various campaign file formats that have existed throughout CM's lifetime and much of what I did is based on his groundwork (which involves a lot of staring at hundreds of rows of bytecode and figuring out which bytes stand for which variables), so credit where credit is due. And while according to the devs you should be able to play any old campaign in CMSF2 out of the box, now you can also extract the scenario files from these campaigns and update them to the new engine standards, even if the original creators are now longer around.

I decided to focus on the extraction part and didn't bother with any of the metadata listing and visualizing. The tool should be able to extract any campaign file from any CM game so far and should also work with CMSF2 once it's released. I originally wanted to extract every bit of information required to also recompile the campaign from the extracted data without any further input, but that proved to be more difficult than I anticipated because some of that information is compressed or decrypted within the campaign files and I have not found a way yet how to extract that. This includes the campaign victory/loss texts and the complete core units and campaign briefing data. Maybe I will manage to add this at a later point. For now the scenario extraction works really well however, but I need some feedback from others. I don't have any CM games installed currently besides Shock Force and thus have only been able to thorougly test the CMSF stock campaign as well as many campaigns downloaded from the Scenario Depot. So if anyone finds a campaign that does not work, make sure to post or send me the error log file that should be created. Usage of the application is as simple as it can be, just put the .exe file in a directory that contains any number of campaign files and start the executable.
