Ifi remeber correctly, Kontact 7 player is not available for download in NI Access V1.x. Ni seems very restrictive on what they allow for fresh installs. I owned Guitar rig 4, updated to 5, but could no longer download the full install version of Guitar Rig 4 when I switched to a new PC. NI may only allow you to get Kontact 7 i dont know for sure.
I am curious... If I already have the free Kontakt player, will I be able to upgrade to the full version for a lower price? I'm guessing not since the player version is free, but I just thought I'd ask.
No, but there are some free libraries for Kontakt Player, you have to register them with NI. Once you have done that you may qualify for crossgrade pricing. I don't know which ones at the moment but this one has worked in the past -
uk.sennheiser.com/drummica
Been trying to get onto the KOMPLETE merry-go-round for years, but they never seem to have the substantially less-than-$600 pricing it'd take to make that happen. And I own $300 of things that appear in KOMPLETE... those don't help, either.
Companies like Soundiron have some excellent Player compatible products and often have sales that can significantly reduce the price of their products. However it would be wise to check if it would make you eligible for a cross grade.
I also have the free DrumMic'a and the paid SoundIron Hyperion Strings Micro, but the NI website only shows the Estey for my crossgrade deal. I don't think it will list more than 1, if you have more than 1 eligible instrument. I'm pretty sure that at one time Drum Mic'a did work for that deal.
I just downloaded and installed Free Embertone Arcana, added the serial they gave me via email in Native Access. Then I checked if I qualified for the crossgrade and I did! Now I will just wait for the %50 sale to buy it at around $150 lol!
Recently, I have been toying with the velocity curve editor in Kontakt Player, and I can save a particular velocity curve as a file.
But, how does one create a preset which uses such a specific velocity curve? There must be some way of including the velocity curve preset in the general preset.
Has anyone come across the same problem, and its solution?
After saving the multi, you can even double-click the multi file (or a shortcut you made to the multi file) and the player will open and everything will set up just as you defined it before saving the multi.
MacMacMac Thanks for the tip (I had already gotten it from you back in PW days). But it seems the rather simple tuning ability of Kontakt's velocity curve editor suits my Roland FP-30 very well, so I'll just stick with that for now.
I don't actually mind the built in velocity curve editor in Kontakt so much, but the one I have a really hard time with is the UVI Workstation/Ravenscroft. Very awkward to manipulate and I can never seem to get it quite right.
There is only one version of Kontakt. It fires up either in Player mode, or in Full mode, depending on the license (ie, if you have a Kontakt licence, it will work as the full Kontakt, and if you don't, it will work as the player).
The difference is, with a full licence, Kontakt displays the "Player" logo, and times out after 15 minutes if you are using anything other than full NI-endorsed libraries (eg, small downloaded things, things you made yourself will all timeout and stop working after 15 minutes).
Thanks a lot Wesley.
This path was actually the problem : C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
Even uninstalling the program, Native Instrument keeps a big file (?!??) named kontakt.vst3 which contains the entire hidden Kontakt Player 6 software.
Removing it was the solution.
Open Native Access and log into your Native Instruments account email. Once logged in, you will see Add Serial in the left-hand menu. You can then input the serial number that you received via email (if you've lost track just head to your account page here):
Click on Choose a location and browse to find the main folder for this specific library. In this example, we're looking for Spitfire Audio - Ambient Guitars (the folder created by the Spitfire Audio App install):
That's it, you're all set! Bear in mind, if this is your first time using Kontakt or Kontakt player you will also need to Install Kontakt via Native Access also. For specifics on this you can see and read more at Native Instrument's support here.
