The website that used to house Rabbyt documentation is gone, has it
been moved? Has the project just been abandoned? I really hope not,
There is no simpler, easier way to create opengl accelerated 2d games
than rabbyt. With all the sprite processing I do, pygame can't even
come CLOSE to performing fast enough. I have looked into some other
frameworks, but they all seem very complex and difficult in
comparison. So, let me know!

Matthew ... if someone needs to maintain it, I can at least figure out
some hosting if you're busy, even if I don't code on it.

~ "Banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than
standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to
control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by
deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the
banks will deprive the people of all property until their children
wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing
power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to
whom it properly belongs." - Thomas Jefferson

The way I see it, it is here: http://arcticpaint.com/projects/rabbyt/

It moved to a personal page, right? The documentation, download links, and examples are all there.

Yes, the "official" site for it is now
http://arcticpaint.com/projects/rabbyt/ I didn't realize PyPI was
still linking to the old one. (Fixed now.)

Allen, I used to use rabbyt also. I had the same problems as you. I started developing indie games and figured Rabbyt wasn't really being maintained. I looked around and found Love2D. Its a simple 2D game framework that uses lua, and supports hardware acceleration.

I'd highly recommend checking it out. It has really cool features like Particle systems, physics, and soon shader support(yes, for 2D!).

I really love Rabbyt, and I hope perhaps one day someone could extend to it and maintain it, but for now I just don't see it as a good choice to develop games with. What if it vanishes? What if I can't implement the new tech that I'd like with it?
