We have issue on our Production rabbit server from the last days.

On almost all the queues we see on the consumers list, consumers with “Unknown” under channel column. When I click on one of them I get to an error page Not found with the following error

“The object you clicked on was not found; it may have been deleted on the server.”

"ReferenceError: channel is not defined"

It looks like everything is working fine and we’re not losing messages or have any performance issues.

What does it mean these “Unknown”? Is it indicate on a real problem and if not, how can we remove them?

We're working with version: 3.1.1

I tried to attach screen captures but get error when I do it.

This looks like bug 25600, fixed in 3.1.2.

http://www.rabbitmq.com/release-notes/README-3.1.2.txt says:

> 25600 fix consumer record leak in the management database (since 2.2.0)

(Which is admittedly not much to go on.)

So these consumers don't really exist any more, but the management
plugin still thinks they do. "rabbitmqctl list_consumers" should not
show them.

That's why the channel shows as 'unknown' - the management plugin
correctly realises the channel is gone.

So it's a fairly harmless problem, albeit ugly.

Cheers, Simon

Just another question:
Does restar will clean these not exist consumers?

A restart of the node containing the management database should, yes.

FWIW, I just saw this happen today on 3.6.2 from a WebStomp consumer.  Restarting the mgmt database did not clear it.  The only thing that worked was killing the connection and waiting for the client to reconnect and create a new consumer.

We have also seen this on both 3.6.2 RC1/2 and 3.6.2 on Erlang 18.3

The same for us after upgrading to 3.6.2 after 3.5.7

We see this after upgrade from 3.5.7 to 3.6.5:

And channel count on the overview page is almost nothing compared to consumer count:

Those consumers seem to exist, just channels are in unknown state.

We no longer investigate issues with 3.6.5 management plugin.
You can try resetting the stats database.

Resetting stats db had no effect

Here's a report from one of the participants in this thread that suggests
the issue is gone in 3.6.6:

FWIW I also don't recall this reported against 3.6.6 in the 2-3 months that it's been out.
