Hi,

According the clustering guide, we should be able to run a rabbitmq
cluster with mixed node versions as long they are all in the same
major release.

But I've tried to install the new 3.6.3 milestone on 3.6.2 cluster,
and got the following error:

=INFO REPORT==== 21-Jun-2016::20:49:43 ===
Error description:
{error,{inconsistent_cluster,"Rabbit version mismatch: local node
is 3.6.2.902, remote node 3.6.2"}}

Is this expected?

Cheers,
Henry Conceição

With these specific versions, yes. 3.6.2.902 is not a standard version (it's a milestone of 3.6.3) and so version matching cannot compare
a 3 segment version with a 4 segment one.
